Chisholm sweeps weekend, Davis crowned NLMS champion at North Star Nationals

FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. (September 8, 2025) – Football legend Vince Lombardi once said, “It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.” Those words rang true for Brandon Davis and the USRA Kevko Racing Northern Lights Modified Series presented by Real Racing Wheels during the season-ending North Star Nationals at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, WI.
After a challenging incident on night one, which narrowed the points gap between Davis and Jacob Bleess to just 18 points, Davis proved his championship mettle by closing out a stellar 2025 season on Saturday night.
Not to be forgotten, “Smoke” Joe Chisholm once again brought out the weekend’s broom, claiming his second consecutive 30-lap Wehr’s Machine A-Main victory — just as he did the night before. On Saturday, it was Josh Angst who led the field to green. However, Chisholm quickly made his move in turns one and two, sweeping past the “Candy Man.” He then took the lead off turn two and down the back stretch, looking to run away with the win. Angst kept him honest in traffic late, but Chisholm ultimately secured another $2,000 payday.
While Chisholm celebrated his second straight win, all eyes were on the championship battle between Davis and Bleess. Bleess started the A-Main in sixth but unexpectedly dropped back to as low as ninth by the end of lap five. Finding his rhythm on the top side of the track, Bleess made his way back through the field and was in the top five by mid-race.
Meanwhile, Davis faced his own challenges. Early on, he tried to challenge Angst for second place but was unsuccessful. Later, he had to fend off Jim Chisholm for the final podium spot. Jim Chisholm applied pressure on Davis' No. 50 machine multiple times in the final 15 laps, and with previous contact between Jim and Brandon the night before, the tension was palpable in the championship showdown.
In the end, Davis held on for third place, while Bleess stalled and finished fifth, securing the championship by 25 points.
As Joe and Brandon celebrated in victory lane, Harley Dais quietly wrapped up a strong rookie campaign in the modifieds. With eleven A-feature starts, Dais earned six top-ten finishes, two top-five results, and a near-win at Fairmount Raceway. His performance earned him the inaugural NLMS Rookie of the Year award.
