North Star Nationals set to Crown First NLMS Champion

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (Sept. 3, 2025)—The historic inaugural season of the USRA Kevko Racing Northern Lights Modified Series reaches its climax this weekend at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin. As the series prepares for its final two races, the spotlight is on a fiercely competitive field racing to crown the first-ever NLMS champion.
Leading the pack is Brandon Davis of Hayfield, Minnesota. A two-time USRA National Modified Champion (2012 & 2019) and a multi-time USMTS race winner, Davis has been a dominant figure all season. With five wins and consistent top-5 finishes, he holds a commanding points lead heading into the finale, poised to secure his first touring series championship and cement his place in racing history.
However, the battle for the title hasn’t been settled just yet. Jacob Bleess of Chatfield, Minnesota, currently sits just 56 points behind Davis with two races remaining. “It’s been a fun year with NLMS! The new series is good for the region and the race format has been fantastic,” Bleess said. “Everyone involved with the series is great to work with. Ultimately, we want a championship. Either way, at the end of it, we will cash out a decent chunk of money while we were able to race close to home.”
A strong finish both nights for Bleess could result in a dramatic championship win, especially if Davis encounters any misfortune over the weekend. Every point is vital in a battle this close.
Adding to the excitement is Harley Dais, the series’ Rookie of the Year, whose impressive debut has been marked by a near-win at Fairmont Speedway. His progress demonstrates promising new talent in the series, further enriching the fierce competition.
Other drivers expected to be in attendance for this weekend’s season finale include Jake Timm, Dustin Sorensen, Josh Angst, Parker Hale, Alex Williamson, Rodney Sanders, Jim and Joe Chisholm, Lucas Schott, Joe Horgdal, Ben Nading , Zach Brom, Darwin Karau, and more.
Join us at Mississippi Thunder Speedway this weekend for a historic season finale — where the first-ever NLMS champion will be crowned in an unforgettable night of racing, drama, and celebration.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with racing set to begin at 7 p.m. For tickets, updates, and further details, visit mississippithunder.com. To follow along with all things USRA Northern Lights Modified Series, you can find us on social media or go to our website at www.northernlightsmodifiedseries.com.
