GRAIN VALLEY, MO (AUGUST 6, 2025) – This Friday night, August 8, the USRA Northern Lights Modified Series headlines the 2nd Annual Dwaine Hanson Memorial at Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, MN. The event honors the late Dwaine Hanson, a beloved local car owner, racer, and lifelong supporter of dirt track racing in the region. After a successful inaugural event in 2024, Zach Gerhardt and the staff at Fairmont Raceway hope to make this years version bigger yet.

"Dwaine was the first driver I lost as a promoter, so this race carries a little extra emotion for me. Dwaine had a racing career that started before I was born, I believe spanning nearly 50 years. His last race took place in Fairmont Friday August 18th, 2023, passing later that fall after a long battle with cancer. In honor of Dwaine, his family has donated some of his trophies to be handed out to the winners in all 6 classes. We also have multiple door panels, hoods and nose pieces to auction off to help pay the purse for the evening."

Competition for the USRA Northern Lights Modified Series points lead has been fierce. Despite just one finish outside the top 5, series frontrunner Brandon Davis has not been able to take a strangle hold of the points standings. Jacob Bleess has kept the driver of the 50III mount honest all season long, and looks to best him this coming weekend. Others like Josh Angst, Alex Williamson, Parker Hale, and Zach Brom have made their presence felt at times, and you never know who might drop in and try to steal NLMS glory any given night.

In addition to the Modifieds, a full program of local support classes will round out the night, giving fans a jam-packed evening of dirt-flying excitement. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, bring the family, and enjoy a night of great racing in honor of a great man. With memories of Dwaine Hanson fueling the passion of the night, this is a race you won’t want to miss.
