Bleess masters Cresco for second win of season

Cresco, IA (August 1, 2025) — The USRA Norther Lights Modified Series stop at Cresco Speedway ended with Jacob Bleess claiming his second victory of the season.
Bleess established himself early in the 25-lap Wehrs Machine A-Main. Cautions began to mar the race during the middle stages of the event, with multiple heavy hitters paying the price. Brandon Davis, early race contender Zach Brom, and Alex Williamson all surrendered early due to mechanical failures. Going green to check over the final 16 laps, Bleess tried multiple times to pull away from the field, but series rookie Parker Hale kept the pressure on challenging Bleess for the top spot in the closing laps. Despite Hale’s efforts, Bleess held his composure and secured the win.
Bleess’ win coupled with Davis’ first DNF of the season have tightened things up at the top of the points standings. Coming into the event Davis held a 63-point lead but saw that lead cut to just 27 points at the nights end.
The “Candy Man” Josh Angst put on a show for the Cresco Speedway crowd as well. A battery failure in his heat race forced Angst to start 19th on the 20-car field. Angst took advantage of the early cautions and executed each restart flawlessly, ultimately finishing fourth.
In the final rundown Jacob Bleess, Parker Hale, Harley Dais, Josh Angst, and Shaun Walski completed the top 5. It was a season best effort thus far for Dais in third. Heat race winners were Brandon Davis in S&S Fishing and Rental Heat 1, Parker Hale in Rick Beebe Heating and Air Conditioning Heat 2, and Jacob Bleess in Kevko Racing Heat 3. Josh Angst set the pace early in the night, claiming fast time in Deatherage Opticians Qualifying clocking in at 18.002.
